What Is It?
Dian Cathal does not hold back regarding personal insights in this hour of comedy gold.
What Is It All About?
Stand up can often toe the line of what is and isn't appropriate, and comedians get things wrong more often than they should, punching down at communities and minorities, and missing the mark completely. But Cathal speaks frankly is their stand up set of queer comedy goodness that is not only hilarious but also informative and educational.
How Did It Make Me Feel?
Really great. Cathal is brilliant from the start, not hiding from topics such as gender, queer communities, transgender communities and what it is to be a transgender person from the USA living and working in the UK.
Dian has no problem making the audience feel included and safe, taking a conversational and informal road for the structure of the show.
Tales of "bear drills" and attending American schools, pepper the piece with poignant insights into being a young person in the states, and include the audience in these experiences perfectly.
Cathal is an exciting voice and brings a brand of comedy to the stage that is yet to be seen. They are totally skilled and extremely entertaining.
Trans*Atlantic is playing at Laughing Horse @ The Counting House, The Attic until the 25th August 2019.
