What is it?
A hilarious LGBTQ show that follows famous actress Tilda Swinton (Tom Lenk) as she researches for her latest movie role by using the depressed and lonely Walter (Byron Lane).
What's it all about?
Walt is on the edge. His mother is controlling, his father puts too much pressure on him, his cheating boyfriend has left him and now he is alone in his apartment ready to take his own life. Enter Tilda Swinton, renowned actress, full of poise and fabulous fashion choices who has come to use Walt's depressive state as research for her latest movie role. Tilda is overbearing and completely breath-taking, using her skills as an actress to inadvertently help Walt and his family discover what it is they really need and discovering a few things about herself along the way.
How did it make me feel?
This show is non-stop energy and fun. The cast work together effortlessly and feed off one another's style and skill. Supporting characters played by Jayne Entwistle and Mark Jude Sullivan are colourful and hilarious. Lenk's comic timing is absurdly good, and matched with Lane's nervous demeanour, the pair create comedy gold that is laugh out loud funny. This ensemble piece is filled with outrageously funny one-liners and Tilda's costume and Marry Poppin's-esque bag need a show of their own. Totally brilliant fun that completely deserves its cult-hit status.
This show is filled with joy even in the face of a dark story. It is surprising and clever, boasts a cast that hits every moment with complete commitment and energy and a message that is touching and charming in amongst utter pandemonium.
