The Ukulaydees Presented by The Ukulaydees
What is it?
An improvised musical comedy that is fronted by three talented females and their one (also talented) token boy.
What's it all about?
This show uses the Harold long from of improvisation that consists of various reoccurring sketches that continue and grow as the show goes on. Upon the show's opening the cast (made up of Anna Costello, Robbie Gibbon, Emily Jane Kerr, Roann McCloskey and Jodie Irvine) explain to the audience that the show will be completely made up based on an audience suggestion. Asking the question "what is something you tried to learn but gave up on" of the audience, and a few different suggestions, knitting became the subject of the show- with hilarity ensuing. Following stories of ninja turtles, jumpers made from literal blood and sweat and two old women who cannot not keep track of who they are the show is an absolute hoot from start to finish.
How did it make me feel?
Thanks to this strong cast, this improv show serves its main purpose- to entertain. Although it lacked in much Ukulele action, the self deprecating cast made light of this and kept the audience included in the fun. The show was self aware and silly, and was a great example of skilled improvisational actors look like.
Energetic, inventive and a little bit mad this show is a boatloads of fun!
