What is it?

Before I was a Bear by Eleanor Tindall.

What is it all about?

Cally (Jacoba Williams) has got a Wednesday night off from her job at the pub, so she’s at a different pub, her local in fact, waiting for her best friend. It is at this particular pub that she spots him, someone that is immediately and embarrassingly recognisable. And with this, it all begins.

How did it make me feel?

From the moment Jacoba Williams (who is dynamite as Cally) walks onto the stage in a complete Bear Mascot costume, it is clear that this is going to be a tour-de-force performance. Jacoba is so completely energetic, witty and humbling as Cally. Every movement she makes is precise and developed. The script by Eleanor Tindall is brilliant, and packs a punch, with hilarious dialogue and very heartwarming moments, that at times, can be quite shocking. The audience interaction that Williams has with the audience is to die for - she is truly a performer to look watch. The lighting design by Martha Godfrey is also excellent and it assists with the overall pace of the show.

Where is it playing?

It’s at the Bunker Theatre till 23rd November running together with I Will Still Be Whole (When You Rip Me In Half).

Anything Else?

Jacoba Williams is fantastic in this show, with time passing so quickly, a credit to her performance of Tindall's wonderful script.
