A Christmas Carol presented by Antic Disposition.
What is it?
Antic Disposition’s A Christmas Carol.
What's it all about?
The beloved Charles Dickens’ classic is given an especially Christmassy flare with revamped mixes of classic Carols and live music.
How did it make me feel?
This adaptation by Antic Disposition at the beautifully intricate Middle Temple is a masterpiece in storytelling, done by rebranding a beloved Christmas classic. The Hall fits beautifully into recreating the Victorian Era of the novel. The remixes of the carols which included God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Silent Night and In The Bleak-Mid-Winter (to name but a few) are well crafted and made special by some of the actors playing unusual instruments along with the band, which is conducted by Ben Everett-Riley. The acoustics work well with the music but at times the actors do have to work extra hard with articulating their words as they can be swallowed by the echoing effect the room creates. However this detail does not distract overall from the enjoyment and nostalgic sense of the piece.
Where is it on?
It ran at Middle Temple from 21-30th December.
Special mention has to be given to David Burt, who brings a unique and refreshing take on Scrooge, and Noah Saer-Fox who is a talent worth looking out for in the future.
A Christmas Carol is playing at Middle Temple until the 30th December 2019.
